Membership FAQ

1Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Pittsburgh Tamil Sangam is recognized as a non-profit organization under IRS Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions to PTS under IRC Section 170.
2Do I get a receipt?
A donation receipt will be sent to the email address you provide on this form. Please be sure to keep a copy of your receipt for tax purposes. If you select a recurring donation, you will be sent an individual receipt each month when your donation is processed.
3What is the annual membership timeframe?
As per bye laws, membership runs from January 1st to Dec 31st. For a brief period, it was run right through the middle of a calendar year. Starting 2022, we are getting back to calendar year, following the bye laws.
4When should I renew my annual membership?
Every year you should renew your annual membership. Lifetime memberships have no expiration. To get the maximum benefit, the board recommends that you renew the first week of January.
5If I take my membership mid of the year, how many months it is valid?
Irrespective of the month of the year, it is only valid for that particular annual year. All annual memberships expire December 31st of the same calendar year.
6Who should have a mandatory membership?
All Tamil School students should hold an active membership (either Annual or Lifetime).
7What are the options / cost for membership?
Annual: Annual has a yearly validity - $20 (subject to change) Lifetime: Lifetime membership has no expiration - $100 (subject to change)
8Is membership transferable?
No, membership is non-transferable.
